TIME + SPACE was the operator of the Town Hall, creating a modern day, mixed-use arts centre with performance and event spaces, workspace, retail and hospitality offerings. A true creative hub that promotes creative enterprise and re-engages the community with the historic building.
We worked with developers the Far East Consortium (FEC) and MAKE Architects on the restoration and operation of the beautiful, grade-II* listed Hornsey Town Hall in Crouch End, Haringey. The project saw a £36m investment to meticulously restore the Town Hall and transform it into a new arts centre and hotel together with newly built apartments.

Advisory + Development Manager & Operator

TIME + SPACE was selected by Far East Consortium and Haringey Council to provide specialist cultural and operational insight into the redevelopment of Hornsey Town Hall—a Grade II* listed civic landmark. Working at the intersection of development and operations, our role was to advise how the theatre and event spaces could be programmed, positioned and operated as a sustainable, commercially viable arts venue. In parallel, acting as Development Manager, we guided the design and fit-out strategy—ensuring the building could successfully transition from a heritage asset into a future-proofed, revenue-generating cultural destination which guaranteed community access.
The project was underpinned by a £30m+ private investment to sensitively restore the Town Hall and deliver a new mixed-use scheme, including an arts centre, hospitality, workspace and residential elements. TIME + SPACE’s involvement ensured that the cultural offer was embedded from the outset—supporting local creatives, SMEs and the wider community through accessible rehearsal, studio and event space.
Through this integrated approach, the Town Hall was repositioned as a contemporary creative hub - reconnecting the building with its community while contributing to a broader cultural renaissance in the London Borough of Haringey. This approach also delivered measurable commercial impact: residential sales outperformed local benchmarks by 10%, with over 90% sold ahead of the Arts Centre opening. This underscores how TIME + SPACE’s insight-led model - spanning concept, positioning, activation and operations—can materially enhance asset performance, market absorption and investor returns.
TIME + SPACE also took an active role in shaping the operational business plan for the Arts Centre. However, following significant delays to practical completion by the main contractor, it was not possible to reach alignment with the developer and primary funder on the level of investment required to deliver the long-term vision for a fully realised, sustainable arts venue. As a result, TIME + SPACE sold its interest to FEC in late 2024 having established a clear framework for the Town Hall’s long-term potential.
